- 1 bag (9.25 oz) Fritos Original Corn Chips
- 1 can (15 oz) chili with beans (or without)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (medium or sharp)
- 1 small onion, finely diced (about 1/2 cup)
- 1 jalapeño, seeds removed and finely chopped
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Section 1: Prepare Your Baking Dish
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly coat an 8×8 inch baking dish or 9-inch pie plate with non-stick spray.
- Section 2: Create the Base Layer
- Spread about 2/3 of the Fritos evenly across the bottom of the dish. Reserve the remaining chips.
- Section 3: Prepare and Add the Chili Layer
- Warm canned chili in a saucepan over medium heat for 3-4 minutes. Stir in cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Pour seasoned chili evenly over the Fritos.
- Section 4: Add Aromatics and Cheese
- Sprinkle diced onions and jalapeños evenly over the chili. Cover the entire surface with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Section 5: Bake to Melted Perfection
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbling.
- Section 6: Add Finishing Touches
- Remove from oven. Dollop sour cream in the center. Sprinkle with fresh cilantro. Arrange reserved Fritos around the edge.
