Description

A delicious and fun twist on classic crab rangoon, these bite-sized bombs are filled with a creamy crab mixture and fried to golden perfection.


Ingredients

  • For the filling:
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 8 ounces lump crab meat, drained and picked over
  • 3 green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • For the coating:
  • 24 wonton wrappers, cut into quarters
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • For the dipping sauce:
  • * 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
  • * 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • * 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • * 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • * 1 teaspoon honey
  • * 1 tablespoon green onion, finely chopped for garnish

Instructions

  • Section 1: Prepare the Crab Filling
  • Combine softened cream cheese and crab meat.
  • Add green onions, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, white pepper, and salt.
  • Mix gently.
  • Refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  • Section 2: Form the Crab Rangoon Balls
  • Scoop filling into 12-16 equal balls (about 1.5 inches in diameter).
  • Roll into smooth spheres.
  • Refrigerate for 10 minutes.
  • Section 3: Prepare the Coating Stations
  • Cut wonton wrappers into quarters.
  • Whisk eggs and water in a shallow dish.
  • Combine panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt in another shallow dish.
  • Section 4: Coat the Crab Rangoon Balls
  • Wrap each crab ball with wonton wrapper quarters.
  • Dip in egg wash.
  • Roll in seasoned panko breadcrumbs.
  • Refrigerate for 5-10 minutes.
  • Section 5: Fry the Crab Rangoon Bombs
  • Heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry in batches for 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Section 6: Prepare the Dipping Sauce
  • Combine sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and honey.
  • Whisk until smooth.
  • Garnish with green onions
